Orlando, Florida Bank Holidays.

Here is a handy and easy to read list of public bank holidays celebrated throughout Orlando and Florida. With each bank holiday comes a host of varying types of celebrations. Please note that on some of the more popular dates the likes of the Florida theme parks become busier. I would suggest a nice day by your very own pool in one of our many Orlando villas.

Martin Luther King Day Mon Jan 19 2009
This marks the birthdate of the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., and is scheduled on the third Monday of January each year.

President’s Day Mon Feb 16 2009
Officially known as Washington’s Birthday, this federal holiday is celebrated on the third Monday of February each year. This is an ideal date to find some bargains, as the celebration of President’s day has become known for the start of some great sales.

Easter Sun Apr 12 2009
A great time for the children, who if they’re lucky could see the easter bunny in or around one of the many Orlando shopping malls, not to mention those Forida theme parks.

Mother’s Day Sun May 10 2009
In Florida it would appear that this sometimes overlooked celebration, within the U.K, takes on a whole different slant. Gifts are carefully made and presented to mothers in recognition of thier hard work. Restaurants are normally busy as are the malls.

Memorial Day Mon May 25 2009
The date on which America remembers it’s fallen. Many families take the opprotunity to visit national parks and the beach. Memorial Day is celebrated each year on the last Monday in May.

A similar day to that of Mothers Day.

Independence Day Fri Jul 4 (every year)
The big one. Independence Day is another federal holiday commemorating the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, from Great Britain. Commonly associated with fireworks, parades, etc as well as other various public and private events celebrating the history. One of the busiest days of the year no matter where you are. Apart from yyour very own Florida rental that is.

Labor Day Mon Sep 1 2008
Brought in to ensure that the working ‘man’ got a day off work, although nowadays Labor Day is celebrated by most Americans as the symbolic end of the summer, and is celebrated on the first Monday of September.

Columbus Day Mon Oct 13 2008
Celebrated on the second Monday of October, this national holiday celebrates Christopher Columbus’s arrival in the Americas on October 12, 1492.

Halloween Fri Oct 31 (every year)
A fantastic celebration of all things goulish. This is how to have fun on Halloween. From the shopping malls to the themeparks, you cannot escape these fantasticlly colourful celebrations. If you are fortunate to be in Orlando around this date, check out Universal Studios, who have some wicked themed nights!

Veteran’s Day Tue Nov 11 (or nearest week day)
A fitting tribute to those who fought and survived the many wars encountered by American soldiers. This date is also recognised throughout other parts of the world, including the U.K where it is referred to as ‘Rememberance Sunday’. As you would expect many parades take place on this date throught Orlando and Florida.

Thanksgiving Thu Nov 27 2008
This form of harvest festival, is a traditional North American holiday. This sees the coming together of American families, and is traditionally celebrated with a grand dinner. A busy time for airports, and other forms of travel. Patience is a must! Clebrations take place on the fourth Thursday of November each year.
